Delightful & rare antique French Napoleon III era pink opaline glass & gilt ormolu 8.5" long "egg" jewel casket in the unique form of a whimsical 3-wheeled bicycle with gold enamel accenting & engraved "DM" or "MD" monogram! Isn't this one simply fabulous! Nice larger size, the entire piece is an impressive 8.5" in length. Beautiful old French pink opaline glass in the form of the ever popular egg caskets popular in the late 1800s Napoleon III era and often found in the boutiques of the old Palais Royal, former residence of Cardinal Richelieu and historied center of commerce and social life for 1700s to 1800s Paris. I LOVE it and you will, too! The wheels even turn, fabulous!
Very good condition. Some slight bending to the ormolu framework, as you can see in the images but do chips, cracks or damage to the pink opaline egg, top or bottom. The handlebars also turn but they don't seem to be attached to the front wheel, party of the way it's made. See pictures for all measurements.
