Delightful antique Victorian to Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved wall hanging 7 3/8" plaque, a lovely little piece with vines & foliage, match or toothpick holding basket with spread-winged bird perched on the side! In the style of the larger wall hanging 'Fruits of the Hunt' plaques, this one measuring just under 7.5" in height and meant to hold either matches or toothpicks surely. Sometimes you see a striker which would mean matches but, this one does not appear to have a striker panel so, up to you. Detailed leaves on the vine and I just love the addition of the little bird perched on the side of the basket! One of two fine antique Black forest match or toothpick holders that we're adding today so be sure to browse some while you're with us. Thanks!
Very good condition. The tip of the bird's right wing has been chipped off and there appears to be one leaf missing at the lower right corner of the basket area. A small age/drying crack visible at the top near the center of the plaque but it doesn't extend any further than that one top leaf. See pictures for all measurements.
