RARE important museum quality antique Swiss sterling silver 50 fluid ounce coffee or tea pot, elegant urn or baluster shape with regal lion figural spout and finial! The silversmith on this one is one of the most renowned of the 19th c. Swiss makers, Georg Adam Rehfuss or Rehfues, Bern Switzerland circa 1830s. Hard to find online reference material, this piece was actually sold to me as 18th c. French but the hallmarks ended up being better, or at least equal in rarity. There are a few though and all I found were priced quite high. The silversmith, Rehfuss or Refhues (there is a bit of confusion on different sites as to the last name), made pieces to Rival the renowned French silversmiths like Odiot, Puiforcat and the like. There is a piece by Rehfuss in the Musee Historique de Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland. Definitely a museum quality piece here, nothing overly frilly but a truly elegant & timeless style and the addition of the lion figures really does make you think the piece was made for royalty somewhere?? A rare find, don't miss it!
Very good to excellent condition. Possibly a tiny dimple or two but no larger dents, damage or repairs to note. See pictures for weight and measurements.
