Gorgeous antique Victorian or Napoleon III era gilt bronze desk top inkwell, unique triangular well with figural legs & cap mounted on an ornate figural bas relief decorated 9" attached base tray or stand! Isn't this one lovely! No maker or bronze foundry marks that I can see but a truly fine older one. The triangular center well is held up by large lion's paw legs, each with double figural reliefs, figures also on the sides with floral garland and forming the inkwell lid. Gryphon or Griffen figures in the center of the base dish and an ornate figural band around the border. A marvelous desk top decorative accent, don't miss it!
Very good condition. It would originally have had a glass ink pot insert inside but now has a bronze or brass one but it fits and works just fine. There are also small solder marks at the tops of the legs, where they meet the triangular top. See pictures for measurements.
