A delightful late 1800s oil painting on stretched linen canvas, Impressionist in style and delightful in theme, she reminds me a bit of works by Toulouse Lautrec. She's a bit risque in her attitude, celebratory and casual in her pose. She raises a perpetual toast and has a cigar/cheroot in her beautiful pouty lips. Suffragette comes to mind, though in France perhaps not so much. A real beauty and oh so appealing. Seated atop a lovely old French side table makes her feel even more joyful, doesn't it. A subtle palette makes it feel like the interior of a cabaret, bar, don't you agree? Very strong composition on this one, as well.
Very good to excellent, but unsigned. The photos show a tiny bit of white specs, but that's what happens with a digital flash and tiny dust on the canvas. There are no white spots at all on the painting. There are 2 very small spots in the old oil painting which have had a restoration long ago. You can see the two small patches from backside, but not anything really from the front of the painting - but do search to be sure you are happy with her throughout. A unique and charming young woman, unframed, ready to display as you will either framed to your choice or just as you see her. I am a bit in love with this one. Outer measurement: 21 1/2" x 18 1/4" and 3/4" depth on the wooden stretcher forms. Frame as you please.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
