Love these wonderful old French paintings on wood panels, of "Fruits of the Hunt" themed still life. This one with 3 birds hung together and painted as real as possible against the natural wood. The artist has not signed the front, but there are several noted artists who worked in this manner of still life about that time. The old sticker on back tells us it was given as a token of love and a thank you from Georgette, to niece, Caroline, on 30, April, 1875. An that it had been given before that, given to Georgette from Maurince, also in thankfulness. We suspect the painting is more likely 1840-60s, and in the style of artist, Jean-Baptiste Oudry French, 1686-1755. I always look for these, love them, and have similar ones hanging in our home in the Rockies. Apparently you all love them, too, because every one I offer for sale sells very quickly. I'm sure this will be no exception.
Very good to excellent condition for age an type, without any damage at all to report on the wood panel, nor loss to the old oil painting gracing it. This one is unframed, ready to choose your own frame for it or to display as was most often done back then, unframed and on a shelf.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
