Acid tested at 14k gold, the top facing of this beautiful 2.5" diameter round pendant or locket-style frame makes this as much a piece of Georgian jewelry as it is art. The handsome gentleman you see here with his high collar jacket and white cravat & vest is presented by a very confident and talented miniaturist whose identity is, sadly, not documented by a signature. I have not opened it up to check, though now and then we do find either an artist's signature or sometimes even identification on backside. Wear as a pendant or hang on your wall or that of your Bru or other doll in that gorgeous doll's house.
Very good to excellent. I should have polished the gold. In the greatly enlarged images we show, a little tarnish of ages is there. It will be polished and clean brilliant gold when it arrives to our customer. No chips or breaks. Cover glass on front and backsides of the locket-style frame is fully intact, both sides. Likely would have had either another portrait on back side or perhaps a plaited arrangement of brunette hair from this gentleman.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
