An exquisite and beautiful work of art, this miniature portrait, painting of a society woman in her finest gown and her stunning pearls. Protected under glass in the original frame, she's hand painted and just stunning beauty for her time. The pearls and cameo pendant she wears are accented by the string of smaller pearls around her crown. Drop earrings that look to be diamond or perhaps pearls.
Outer frame is 6" x 5.25" and is .75" thick, and the portrait miniature is 2 3/4" x 2 1/8". I have not taken it out of the frame to scan it and our photos really do wash out color and fine detail and do not show the painting as beautiful as it is. The frame remains as lovely as does the portrait within. Dates to earliest 1800s, I do not have identity of the sitter nor a signature by the artist. No chips, no breaks, no hairlines. Very nicely preserved. You can see a little dust on the interior of the cover glass, which is the old slightly convex glass. The little white dots are not on the painting. Dust particles reflect our camera flash even when we can't see them in person. Exceptionally appealing painting and framed in a way that makes it a natural for an elegant doll's house, or for a very sophisticated collection of Georgian or Napoleonic Era Paintings.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
