A fabulous Art Nouveau swirl of deep repousse work encircles the bulbous big powder jar and repeats up top as it encircles a monogram which I think is G W C, though it's possible it is J W C - you decide. Meets the USA standard for sterling silver which is a little lower than our favorite old French pieces, and stands at .935/1000 pure silver.
Very good to excellent condition start to finish, this one even retains most of the 18k gold vermeil interior as you can see. No dents or dings to deal with, a bit of tarnish remaining in the deeper recesses which we've left in order to show the pattern a little more elegantly, but you can certainly do a deeper polishing than we like to if you'd wish to have no tarnish at all (a little of it in pattern gives depth, remember). A couple of scrapes to the bottom near hallmark where someone has probably taken silver to test the grade. This one is a nice thick gauge, sturdy and elegant. A wonderful idea for a gift, I might add.
