The remaining pieces from a large liqueur service that would have originally had 12 matching cups or small stemmed cordials and a matching glass tray, a' la France, but this set is definitely Moser, Bohemian glass and art of the Master wheel engraver's skill. The pair of 8" tall decanters would be perfect to use now as the personal wine or water decanters I've been collecting and listing - you know, the 'carafon' as the French call them. Smallish carafe to use at each place setting on the table and for either water or wine service. I love the tradition, love the small decanters and love using them whenever I'm at home in Paris doing the buying. This last trip, I decided we need to start stocking more of these little darlings so you all can enjoy that tradition at home, too. The pair you see here might even work for 2 person service each, or essentially, wine refills for a table for 4 (2 couples) each sharing a carafe. The beautiful Bohemian mouth-blown glass is a rather unusual color for their work - pink! One thinks of red first, then perhaps amber colored glass as Bohemian, and so the pink ones just seemed very interesting. We have them at a good price for such intricately wheel engraved items, too, owing to that one tiny little nip on the rim of one decanter. Small flaw to get these at a relative bargain, methinks - and we do know a great glass man for repairs who is good at filing out small chips, in case our buyers wants a referral.
Very good condition for age and type, there is just the one small chip we've shown very clearly on our photos for your review. It isn't big, but it is there, and it's had an impact on our cost to acquire so definitely means these are a great buy. Dating late 1800s to earliest 1900s, the pink color in this pair is really quite rare to find in Bohemian engraved glass. Note the details show the requisite theme of castles and deer/stag, all engraved into the colored glass. Very pretty!
