Magnificent & rare antique Victorian era Black Forest hand carved 27.5" wall clock, a Fruits of the Hunt themed plaque with detailed FOX and game bird figures, hunting rifle & satchel, bugle and immense visual & decorative appeal! Isn't this one superb! HUGE, measuring an impressive 27.5" x 15.5" and up to 4.5" in depth with the carved figures! A wooden dial or face with faux ivory Roman numerals and hands. One of the more unique Black Forest wall clocks we've had in quite some time. With the appearance of one of those majestic hunt themed wall plaques, the figures and appeal are definitely there but with an added bonus of the clock in the center! A near match for another wall plaque that we currently have listed, that one featuring another large fox figure, a bit larger game bird and all of the hunting accoutrements displayed on an expansive plaque with similar carved edges. This clock & plaque just a hair smaller than the other but take a look at it while you're with us, you might just have to have both :)! A truly superb piece here, one that you'd expect to see in an old German or Bavarian castle. Perfect for your own castle or, these make fabulous decorative pieces in ski cabins or lodges (and you'll not find this good of a price in Aspen). Don't miss it!
Very good condition. There is one small spot of restoration to the rear plaque panel, in the upper right at the pointed corner (done with wood fill and carved to match so you need look closely at the clock to tell). There are also small walnut panels on the back of the case at each of the top corners for strength and one at the bottom so that the clock case will rest evenly on the wall. The 11 o'clock Roman numeral has a repaired break and the number six is missing, small portions of the numerals seven, nine, ten and twelve are chipped off. A chipped leaf tip or two, some small work/bug holes but, as you can see, the piece is in overall fabulous shape given its 150 or so years. Key and pendulum are there though not in the pictures and the clock is working. See pictures for all measurements.
