These are often called Sweetheart Pins, but this one has the memento "IMO" or 'in memory of' so is definitely a mourning pin. The style is the same, and the Greek looking motif and lettering is consistent with these old ones. This one does not show it from the front, or in wear, but from the backside you can see that there is a hairline crack that traverses the length, top to bottom. I've tried to show it in our images, and it doesn't show up well enough, but bears mention. It has apparently had some restoration at some point, and the hairline does not represent a moving or loose crack of any sort. The brooch is beautiful, nice sized and one you'll love to wear. Take a look!
