Gorgeous antique French sterling silver handled 12pc oyster or shellfish fork set with a lovely floral & foliate accented pattern, shaped handles and wonderful condition! The pattern nearly Art Nouveau in style and the timing of creation would place them right in that area of influence. Don’t you just love the sinuous shape of the handles and the way the vines, leaves & flowers wind up and down inside the fluted bordering! The handles are all hallmarked with the French Minerve or Minerva, the tiny number “1” within those markings means they’re in .950 silver or 95% pure so over the .925 standard for “sterling” silver. The silversmith marks are tiny but legible on a few and are for Louis Ravinet & Charles Denfert, Paris circa 1891-1912. A beautiful set, don’t miss them!
Very good condition. Some faint dimpling possible to the handles in places but no larger dents, damage or repairs to note there. The blade portions are silver plated, not sterling, and so there are a few small spots where you can see that. One in particular that I’ve pointed out in the images, has a bit more damage/silver loss to the back side of the tines area. See pictures for weights and measurements.
