Superb original French Empire tiara with the original comb still attached and all of the large cut red coral beads still mounted. The tinier coral beads are missing a few, but those large hand cut faceted ones are all there in fine preservation state. As you can see from our final photo, these were worn in a variety of ways, off-set or centered, during and slightly after the era of Napoleon and Josephine. We've shown portraits of women of that era wearing this very type. We've had more than a few over the years, but can never seem to keep any in inventory long. The ones that are complete as this one (nod to some of the tiny seed pearl-sized beads missing) are harder to come by. The mounting metal that attaches the original pick comb is 12k gold, the balance of the metal is an alloy that does not test gold. This is 200 years old, and a fabulous find. Measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The larger hand cut faceted red coral beads are all intact, unbroken. The tiny ones, seed pearl sized, are missing some asa you can see. We've shown it in enlargement so you can evaluate for yourself. The comb is in very fine condition (pick comb) and it's ready to use or display.
