Antique French Pastel Chalk Drawing Portrait of a Spaniel, Dog, in Frame c. 1900, Artist Signed
This portrait of a spaniel whose name was "Wagtails Czar" is done in pastels (chalk) and is framed in a simple but appealing frame (as shown). protected under glass, this early 1900s chalk drawing is superb - very skilled in capturing the spaniel, don't you agree? I found this one and the other similar to it (offered for sale separately) to be just too appealing to pass by. and dogs are always a sought after subject in our clientele's aesthetic, so here this one is. Look for the other one sold separately. Obviously well loved animals, the pair of paintings come to us from France. I suspect these two treasured pets might be in the famed French Pet Cemetery at this point. The outer frame is 13.75" x 11.75" and 1" deep overall. other measurements noted on our images. Not expensive to ship this size, and our packer is world famous!
Very good condition, no damage or loss to the chalk drawing or painting on paper, and the cover glass is in place and undamaged, as well. Original art work, not a print. The old frame shows age, as you can see. It has a whitewash over the wood, some distress as visible in our photos but the overall effect is just charming. I can't make out the artist's name, sorry. But perhaps you can.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
