Set of 6 Antique French Old Paris Porcelain Plates, Hand Painted Bouquets, Superb!
Each plate is hand painted, not transfer-decorated as many old sets were. The set you see here is one I found in France, and the 6 make such a pretty grouping, you might want to use them in decorating as well as on table. The look we like is a corbel-hung plate shelf above window or door, displaying beautiful plates like a valance of sorts. I have this in use in my large kitchen in main house, and everyone compliments us on it. Easy to construct, we use antique carved supports to really add some international and personal touches. But I digress. You might want to just use these in your china hutch in display. Or you might enjoy setting them at table, atop your dinner plates for the arrival of your guests, and to compliment your center floral bouquet. A first glance at a well-appointed table, alongside your antique French sterling silver (talk to me about sets we have). The hand painted plates would be sad if you let people eat on them, however, so they will be lifted and replaced with a plate for first course once your guests are seated and have had a chance to ooo and ahhh. You get the picture. The set consists of 6 plates, and they are 9.25" in diameter.
Very good condition throughout. These have no chips nor cracks, no hairlines. The plates are each hand painted - no two are alike but they compliment each other. The mark is not identifiable for us, but these are 19th century Old Paris made, probably c.1860-90. Wouldn't they be gorgeous lining the back wall of the vitrine where you show off your French opaline collection. So many ideas to decorate or serve with this set. The thick applied gold rims are in very good condition on the set, as well. Pretty, yes?
