Exceptional & rare antique to vintage French sterling silver 3pc ecuelle, bowl or tureen style serving dish, COMPLETE with original lid & interior liner and in pristine condition! What a beautiful piece! The lid topped with a wonderful pineapple finial as the handle, an ornate interlaced "BM" or "MB" monogram on one side. The bowl has a bead style festooned border, the side handles with seashell accents. All three pieces as near pristine as could be, they look as though they just came off of the showroom shelf! The actual dish is 12 3/4" wide with the handles, the bowl has an 8 3/8" diameter and the piece, with lid, stands 6 1/4" tall. Thick & heavy, too, weighing in at an impressive 46.3 troy ounces or 1440 grams total. All three pieces bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're all in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The crown topped silversmith marks are for Robert Linzeler, Paris circa 1897-1926. Literally translated from French, ecuelle means 'drinking bowl', which would make sense of the wide side handles that would make it easy to pick up and sip from. Of course we wouldn't dream of sipping from it at the formal dining table but who is to know when you're alone :). Spoil yourself!
Excellent condition. No dimples, dents, damage or repairs to note. All three pieces are original and in superb condition.
