A deeper brown stain on this poor old French boot, wonderfully hand carved in wood and ornamented with a plethora of tiny brass pins to provide detail of 'stitching' on top and sole, the boot snuff you see here is in poor condition, missing the lid, and a bit knawed on here or there, yet it's antique and fun and perfect as a match holder in with your collection of intact boot or shoe snuff boxes. It dates to earliest 1800s if not slightly before, and will be a wonderful beginning to your collection, or addition to even the most sophisticated collector's favorites.
Good to poor condition, age and type considered. There is no warping, top is missing entirely and there are nicks and perhaps gnaw marks from a pet (?). Still, fun as a match holder just as you see it. Priced according to condition, of course. Wonderful shape and form. Nice darker stain adds interest in a collection or display.
