A pristine Victorian era or earliest Edwardian era Grand Tour micromosaic floral bouquet on a swivel brooch that would have once held a photo or hair memento under glass on the back side, and which is no longer with the enormous-sized brooch. A nice old goldstone surround mosaic of fine quality, it's a mid-1800s big and bold brooch, tested and is rolled gold or pinchbeck, not karat gold, it is set with a lovely old floral spray. The fine tesserae of glass are set in place to form a colorful bouquet against the dramatic gold-flecked 'goldstone' or 'adventurine' surround. The plaque is large, brooch is approximately 2" in diameter, rises to nearly 1/2" depth, so a grand statement. A lovely old one and well worthy of wear or enjoyment in displaying this treasure. The scan shows not a single tiny flaw. This is truly a beauty, perfectly preserved. A very fitting frame for this fine Victorian to Edwardian era Grand Tour mosaic. No damage to report - the mosaic plaque is perfect save a tiny chip to the tip of one glass leaf - not that you'll ever notice it. It's solid and elegant - perfect to be worn as a brooch or attached to your big bold pearl necklace for a great (and very affordably priced) look.
Excellent condition, as noted - no chips, no cracks, no hairlines. No missing tesserae. Beautiful pinchbeck (mimics fine old gold) brooch frames it opulently and together - a bold statement worthy of a frame. Great piece!
