Elegant antique French Napoleon III era 12 3/8" tea chest, a beautiful box in rosewood veneers with brass strip inlays, stunning brass boulle style floral themed inlays and original finished rosewood interior! Originally a triple well tea chest, the interior of this one is beautifully finished in rosewood veneers but, alas, it's missing what would have been the porcelain or glass tea jars. The box lovely though, very Napoleon III looking and a fantastic decorative piece with those fabulous floral inlays. Hard to find these without lifting or loss to the inlays but none here, the box does have a bit of yellowing to a clear coat finish though so the brass inlay isn't quite as bright as it should be. An elegant old French ebaniste work of art!
Very good condition. As noted, there is some 'yellowing' to a clear coat finish but no lifting or loss to the inlays and the interior is as near pristine as can be (with a nod to the missing jars). It even has a working lock with what is likely the original old skeleton key. See pictures for all measurements.
