These are so pretty just on display, lighted to show off the intricate way they're made. The elaborate blown crystal or glass form is a flower frog, and even I can stick a few floral stems into each of the deep recesses (water filled) and create a gorgeous centerpiece or floral arrangement. You certainly can, too. If you've long been enchanted by the flower boutiques of Paris, you'll know this is an essential French mainstay you'll want in several sizes. This one is the largest I've ever owned, at 8" long and 5" wide. 3.5" high. These are very heavy, and we'll be sure to package with exceptional care (as always) so no damage can occur en route to you. The rim on this one is French sterling silver, as guaranteed by the French Minerve mark shown. Actually, it's .800/1000 or Minerve #2, making it a little stronger, better for an item like this. The silversmith's mark is poorly stamped so I'm unable to tell you the silversmith for this one. The pressed blown glass on bottom notes a 1910 patent and that this one has been blown in England, which is interesting alongside the French sterling silver rim. Perhaps jobbed out to a manufactory in England supplying a French business. Elegant enough to center your most opulent table.
I see no cracks, no chips, no breaks at all and the sterling silver rim is in fine form, too. A lovely old one of extravagant size. Measurements noted on images. We have a few of these to list. The ones with sterling rims are the most rare, and this one is fabulous - best of them all.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
