With a "etain" (white metal like pewter) fitting that rivals the finest large claret or wine jugs, this small intimate liqueur service set has all the panache and very little of the price. The set would have been part of a larger service. In its quality and type, we'd have probably had 2 decanters and 12 cordial cups with a tray to serve them. What remains is one perfect decanter and 5 of the little cup cordials. You might use it for 4 guests' aperitif service and hold back that 5th cup in case of an accident. Cobalt glass that has been hand enameled in a lovely motif, some might say this set is Bohemian, but we think it's French.
Very good to excellent as it stands, not complete as it once was, but here with a lovely 6 piece service: decanter in demi-carafe size and 5 matching cordial cups. There is a stopper in that metal-clad neck, and no chips or cracks, no hairlines. Figural handle, mascaron spout - very Renaissance Revival, c. 1850-80
Antique French sterling silver, Georgian jewelry, sewing, Black Forest, etc 17th to 19th c. European
