Superb set of twelve antique French 1890s Belle Epoque era sterling silver & mother of pearl 8" dessert or luncheon sized table knife set with ornate sterling caps & collars and as elegant as can be. That tiny number "1" in the upper right corner of the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark means that the silver content is at least .950 or 95% pure so they're at a slightly higher level than the .925 standard for 'sterling silver'. Solid, shimmering genuine mother of pearl handles with ornate scrolling floral & foliate themed silver caps and collars. The silversmith marks are for Leontine Compere, Paris circa 1888-1919. Beautiful, a complete set and all in wonderfully preserved condition. Don't miss them.
Very good condition. Blades and tips are in great shape with just a bit of visible scuffing and a few small scratches (sorry for the little bit of visible tarnish). No chips or cracks in the mother of pearl and no damage to any of the caps or collars. The box may or may not be original but works just fine for storage. See pictures for measurements.
