Elegant antique French sterling silver tea leaf or sediment strainer for tea pot spout with Louis XV or rococo style spiral fluting and wonderful condition! One of three great old French sterling silver strainers that we're adding this week so be sure to browse some while you're with us. This one has the original basket style handle and wire mount that extends down into the spout of your sterling tea or coffee pot. It bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark and the tiny number "1" within that mark means it's in .950 silver under the gold (95% pure so higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The wire handle & mount bear the tiny French boar's head hallmark (shown in the images) and means they're in at least .800 silver content. I did not see a silversmith mark, not uncommon on smaller pieces like this but I'll go back and double check with a loupe. A beautiful piece and, as we all know, it's the details that are important so why not, right! We have one of the largest collections of superb antique French & European silver so, be sure to stay, shop and enjoy. Thanks!
Excellent condition. Some wear or fading to the gold or vermeil interior, sorry, but no dents, damage or repairs to note. See pictures for weight and measurements.
