Elegant antique French hallmarked .800 (nearly sterling) silver writer's wax seal or sceau, ornate aesthetic style with "LM" bronze foundry marked seal tip and interlaced "SD" or "DS" monogram. Small hallmarks on each side near the seal tip, one the French Minerve or Minerva, the tiny number "2" within that mark designating at least .800 or 80% pure silver. On the other side is a tiny silversmith mark, unfortunately not all legible so I've not been able to narrow down the date of manufacture or maker. The seal tip itself is in bronze and has a foundry mark of "LM" with a star, somewhat unique in that most of these had silver tips. A lovely piece and one of four that we're adding this week so be sure to browse some while you're with us. Thanks!
Very good condition. Very slight surface scuffing but no dents, damage or repairs to note. The box is also in fine shape, age considered. See pictures for all measurements.
