We can never keep these in inventory. They go out as quickly as we find one. This one is particularly fine. Made in early 1900s from a stack of 1800s leather bound French books, gutted and refitted as a desktop hidden bar. The set of glassware is excellent in this one, not a flaw. The old leather books, when closed, look like a library stack. Set them tabletop or desktop, open to reveal a cognac or liqueur service. So fun! One of the nicest ones we've had in ages. Some are making 'faux' book ones in the 20th century, but this is the old real thing - real old leatherbound books, gold embossed, the way they originally made these clever little hidden bars. I love this one!
Very good to excellent throughout. No damage whatsoever to the gold-accented barware, a small decanter and 4 shot cups for cognac or for liqueur service. The interior is nicely worked, beautifully fitted out, and the exterior is, as you realize, genuine 19th century and earlier leather bound books. Some foxing to the leather, as expected and desired. The perfect look. Hinge is solid as can be, and it closes flush and lovely for display. It is 7" at longest, other measurements noted on our photos.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
