Always thrilled to get a chance to stock up on 1700s to earliest 1800s French shoe snuffs and we lucked into a collection in Paris recently. This is one of the largest of them, at 6.5" and is a table snuff. We've tried to show it well for your review. It's the type that has a bit of a puzzle opener up top, and it's entirely intact. Eelgantly styles, it has pique nail head trim to mark the old shoemaker's seemliness, but we didn't do much of a polish to show them off, sorry. They're steel pins rather than brass which we often see in these old ones. VERY appealing, fabulous old wood in great form.
Very good to excellent condition throughout for age and type. The pique work is steel pins and mostly all complete. I should clean and polish so they show up more for you but look closely at our photos. You see them all? Each hand set. A work of art, c.1750-1820.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
