An exceptionally fine c.1810-20 French portrait miniature of a handsome young man, a member of the Noblesse, for certain. The gold locket-style frame it's housed in, and to which it is original, acid tests at 16k and is yellow in color. It is meant to be worn as a pendant or hung on a wall mount display. It is slightly more than 2" in diameter, and is over .25" thick, glass both front and back, where you can see a shadow of the old hair art memorial that once rested in that back side. The light residue will clean off easily and the locket mounting opens early and closes tightly if you wish to do so.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, missing only the original hair art arrangement that would have once filled the backside of the locket-style frame. I can see I should have touched some rouge onto a q-tip and cleaned that old gold tarnish that shows in our very enlarged photos, but with naked eye, we couldn't see it. No dents, no chips, no breaks, and closure on the locket frame holds tight. An elegantly crafted portrait in gouache on that tiny surface, the likeness of a very handsome young man. Total weight is 23.7 grams. That is not all gold, of course.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
