Charming & rare Vintage possibly Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved liqueur tantalus or stand, an upright hiking bear figure with glass eyes and painted accents, intaglio etched decanter & six cordials and wonderful visual & decorative appeal! As you can see in the final photo, where this 'bar bear' is shown with a more usual sized one we typically find, this bear and stand are really large. At 14.5" tall with the decanter, he's one impressive figure and the carving detail is very fine - very charming - and the bear alone stands roughly 11" tall! These were popular in the 1800s but we'd say this extra large example is probably early to mid 1900s though not lacking in carver's skill, fine detail. A delightful decorative accent, large and one fabulous Black Forest bear! One of two that we're working on now, the other a bit smaller but dating to the late 1800s so be sure to watch for it. Thanks!
Very good to excellent condition. The carving is very fine, as you can see in our images. The bear carved from a single log, the base a separate solid panel, with only the walking stick and pannier style basket on his back added in which hold the decanter. Imagine carving away everything that is NOT this bear! Don't miss it. The glassware is likely not the original set (though the decanter could be judging from its shaping and fit into the basket holder). Don't wait, though - he won't last! Too big and fine and unique!
