Set a beautiful table with this set of 10 fabulous c.1917 Imari plates by famed English maker, Minton. The colors are wonderful. I've been keeping this set for myself, but alas, I don't have enough dinner parties these days to work my way through the sets I keep for myself, so this one wants to get used and enjoyed and is being listed. I know I'll live to regret it, as I always do once something I really love sells. Sigh. But they're too pretty to just crate and store. Dont' you love the color combinations. I think they qualify as Imari, though perhaps some would argue that point with me. Definitely an Oriental flair to the pattern and colors, even though we often think of Imari as that combination of cobalt and claret ret in flowing glazes. If there's a pattern name for this one, I don't know it. If you do, please email and we'll add that to our listing.
Very good to excellent, considering that a set is usually 12 plates, so this set of 10 is a remainder of a larger set. I find no chips or cracks, no hairlines on any of these fine old plates. If there's a utensil mark, I didn't find it. They appear to have been cabinet or display plates and not really used but perhaps a few times. Very nice set. They're just 4 years from being antique and of course the value just continues to go up over time. Aren't they gorgeous!
