Absolutely gorgeous set of six antique American 8 3/4" table knives, all with pistol grip shaped sterling silver & solid mother of pearl handles and all marked by Mermod & Jaccard Jewelry Company! Aren't these fabulous! The handles are just about as beautiful as one could hope for. In that rare pistol grip shaping with marked sterling silver caps & collars or ferrules and all with shimmering, solid mother of pearl! Pre 1905 when the name, and mark, was changed to Mermod, Jaccard & King Jewelry Company. The five story building at the corner of Locust Street and Broadway was destroyed by fire on December 19th, 1849. The company was later absorbed by Scruggs, Vanderfort & Barney in 1917. The pearl handles have incised and enamel filled monograms, they appear to be "CJ". A set of six yes but, perfect for the smaller get togethers or to use as serving pieces for butter or other condiments. Lovely, don't miss them!
Very good-excellent condition. A bit of scuffing or faint scratching to the silver plated blades but no damage to the sterling caps or collars, no chips, cracks or breaks to the mother of pearl. See pictures for measurements.
