Delightful antique Victorian era 7.5" boat shaped ink stand, entirely covered in 'quilted' mother of pearl panels and with the original lovely little wheel cut glass inkwell! Here's a unique piece! Generally, when we have a mother of pearl boat inkwell it's actually a boat formed from pearl half shells, this one a bit different in that it's made of wood with mother of pearl tiles over the canoe or boat shaped hull. A single cut glass inkwell mounted in the center and white edge bands as accents. Great if you're a mother of pearl collector! We normally only find old calling card cases or tea caddies with this type of pearl overlay, a unique boat shaped inkwell here!
Very good condition. A small patch on the rear right side has some replaced pearl tiles but the color, etc. is as identical as can be. A tiny nip or two to the glass inkwell and it appears that there were metal pen holder hooks on the back of the boat (only small coils remain). See pictures for measurements.
