Elegant & rare antique French Louis XVIII to Louis-Philippe I era sterling silver 10 5/8" long sifting ladle with turned wood handle, 1819-1838 hallmarks and fabulous condition! A tool for the confectioner, whether by profession or simply the amateur home creations, this piece would have been used for adding the final sprinkling of powdered sugar to pastries, etc. and it's just about as elegant as can be! Truly amazing condition given its relatively fragile nature, it's 10 5/8" in length and the ornate reticulated bowl, slightly oval, is 3" x 2.5". The back of the silver stem bears the French Michel-Ange (Michelangelo) and Diana hallmarks that dates it between 1819-1838. The tiny number "1" within that mark means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith mark appears to be "AB" but I've not found reference for it yet, will do so when I find the maker. A lovely piece, guaranteed to please!

Very good to excellent condition, age considered. Being roughly 200 years old, you would expect some bending or denting but I see none of that here. The only thing near a flaw is that the handle has a tiny bit of visible glue where the wood meets the silver and the wood finish is worn there. See pictures for all measurements and weight.
