Absolutely gorgeous antique French Belle Epoque era COMPLETE matching 7pc sterling silver serving utensil or implement set with ornate Renaissance style pattern including figural grotesques or mascarons, monogram medallions sans monograms AND all beautifully kept in a fitted storage and/or presentation box! A wonderful set, complete and all pieces with matching figural pattern. The set includes meat carving knife, and fork, salad serving fork & spoon, cheese knife, sugar sifter spoon and sugar tongs, plus the storage case/box of course! Hallmarked sterling silver handles, the French Minerve or Minerva on each, the tiny number "1" mark within designates them as being .950 silver content (95% pure, higher than the .925 standard for sterling silver). Silversmith marks are for Claude Doutre Roussel, Paris circa 1895. Celluloid tines & bowl on the salad serving pair, original steel tines & blade on the meat serving pieces and an elegant 18k gold 'vermeil' bowl on the sugar spoon (note that it's reticulated or pierced for sifting the sugar). All original and all in wonderful shape, gorgeous!
Very good condition. A slight dimple possible to the silver handles, some tarnish and/or corrosion to the steel (pre-stainless steel). There is a bit of age discoloration on the salad pieces and some wear to to the vermeil on the sugar spoon bowl. The box is original, all pieces fit and the box itself is intact but, as you can see in the pictures, the top leatherette panel has extensive moisture damage including tears and lifting but the interior is just fine. The interior of the lid has an embossed stamp/mark that reads "Valentin a Yvetot". See pictures for measurements.
