Elegant antique French sterling silver & thick cobalt glass open salt pair with cabriole style legs, ornate reticulated foliage & bird or dove figural accents and wonderful visual appeal! Aren't these beautiful! I just love these old sterling pieces with the cobalt glass, the deep blue makes the sterling stand out even more with the contrast. These with lovely little cabriole style legs, Louis XVI or rococo styling with pierced or reticulated silver casings consisting of vines, foliage and those lovely little dove figures. Both bear the French boar's head hallmark meaning they're in at least .800 silver, 80% pure so just under the .925 standard for "sterling" silver but common in these smaller pieces due to the added strength the slightly lower silver content provides. The silversmith marks are for Victor Boivin, Paris circa 1897.
Very good condition. One of the salts has a small split in the top encircling portion near one of the legs, it doesn't take any of the strength from the piece. A tiny nip or two to the cobalt glass inserts possible but no cracks or large chips. See pictures for measurements.
