I'm so in love with the old 19th century hand painted (on back of glass - "eglomise") souvenir items, as you can see by my final image (a small antique French vitrine display case filled with them in our powder room bath. They're such fun, collecting all the favorite old architectural views and mementos offered the Grand Tour travelers in mid-late 1800s. This pair of scent bottles would have very likely once been fitted inside a lovely scent caddy, which was most often how they were offered. And now they're just lovely all on their own. One shows the Concord and fountains at the end of the Jardins du Tuileries, Paris, and the other shows the wonderful old Hotel du Ville (City building) of Paris. The paintings are done on backside of the glass, then mounted into the brass ormolu caps. A thrilling grouping of all your favorites of Paris makes a great collection, display, even on tabletop or bedside. Who doesn't love Paris!
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. These are 2 very fine and well-preserved scent bottles and the only flaw notable is that one has lost its inside glass stopper. The other is slightly stuck, will need a drop of WD-40 to work its way to loosen it over a few weeks. We'll take care of that. But at listing time, it is stuck. Beautifully preserved, the mouth-blown glass flasks capture and refract light in a most appealing way, too. No chips, no damage to inner necks. They're just lovely. Measurements are noted directly on our images, in case you're trying to fit out your scent caddy, too. Look there to get accurate measurements.
