These are always so fun to find: antique French watercolor (aquarelle) paint box with loads of the old watercolor bricks (26) still in it along with the old porcelain paint pots (6 in this one). This one is a lovely c.1880-1910 box and it's been used as you can see, but still has a lot of life left in it. Most of the watercolor bricks remain unused. A gorgeous outer box - it's fabulous for display, too. The box has its original lock and working key, lovely contrasted wood stringing against a walnut veneer - very nice. Look it over well. There is a maker mark on this one and it tells us it is . I'm listing another one I brought back from Paris recently that does - sold separately. Look for it, too.

Very good condition to excellent for age and type. While a couple of the watercolor bricks have been used, as you can see, most of them have not been used at all, and there are loads of them (26) and lots of paint left. The paints and ceramic pots (2 larger ones and 4 smaller, perhaps not all original since they don't quite all fit) are on a lift-out tray and there's a good deal of space below it for pens, pencils, paper. A charming contrasting wood stringing in perhaps lemonwood up top is a lovely accent on the walnut veneer. You can see there is a little veneer chipping on the outer corner, however. The set bears to maker/marker's label, and it is a SOISSONS set from "Place du Cloitre Poirier, Papetier", as noted on table. The box is in remarkable shape, well crafted, pretty lemonwood and walnut veneer, as mentioned. Just lovely old thing, isn't it. Box is 7.5" x 5.75" and is 1.75" thick when closed up.

Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time.
