Entirely hand carved of wood, this superb 14" tall frame is either of French origin, or Black Forest, and we'd probably point to the very French look of it to pull to the French carvers. In very elegant design and execution, the carved front is still just gorgeous, rocaille and acanthus leaf motif intact. It seems likely there would be some small leaf tip or other chip on the old wood. Perhaps a couple there to the right of side at about the 3-4 o'clock position as you look at our frontal photo, but as you can see, it's really superb in display. There is not a glass nor mirror in it as I write. We can install either for our buyer, just ask us to cut the one you want to receive with it if you do. Suitable for photo display or for a wall mirror. Or perhaps you want it to display something else. Will hold a 5" x 7" photo, or mirror in that aperture.
Very good to excellent for age and type, as also noted above. The frame is a full 14" tall, 9" wide and an inch in depth. Looks like there was originally an easel stand mounted on back (see the 2 holes up near top of back), but at this time, one would have to reconstruct a stand or wall-hang it. LOVE it as a small mirror for bathroom or anywhere. Or for your photo or your small blackboard, even. You'll find the perfect way to put this one to use.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
