A small and intimate hand carved holy font, in the manner of and likely carved by Swiss Black Forest region carvers. The mid-1800s devotional and holy font present beautifully even with the advanced age. Photos show it enlarged a bit, or at the least close to life-sized, so you can look it over really well. It is not perfect, but it's lovely, you'll agree.
Good to very good condition for age and type. No chips to note, though surely some tiny nips here or there. No breaks. The Christ is nicely carved, if small, and the piece is complete with nothing missing. Holy font is not really fit to hold water without a small cup, if you're someone religious and intending upon use. It would ruin the old wood so please do not use without a liner of some sort within that carved holy font at bottom. Overall, it is 7.25" tall, other measurements noted on the photos. Amazing anatomical sketch there for a figure no more than 2 1/8" tall.
