Fabulous antique Victorian to early Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved quadruple carte d'visite sized picture frame, opens to 15" wide and holds four portraits with a folding locket style form and ornate reticulated vines & foliage and edelweiss flowers! A lovely picture frame, perfect for the family of four :). When closed, the facade shows the edelweiss flower on each front panel, edelweiss having a long history associated with luck and bravery as it only grew at higher elevations in the Alps making it somewhat difficult to obtain. Each of the frames holds a 4" x 2 7/8" carte d'visite or calling card size photo, it and the glass panels in each simply slide into the sides. A wonderful piece and one of two that we're adding this week, the other actually a matched pair so, be sure to browse some while you're with us. Thanks!
Very good to excellent condition. Possibly a tiny chip or two but, as you can see, this one is wonderfully preserved and guaranteed to please. The glass panels are replacements surely but cut to size. See pictures for all measurements.
