The fine old Victorian English transfer ware soup tureen complete with it's cover, beautifully preserved with no chips and both handles fully intact. There are a couple of fine hairlines that look like they're more to do with the original firing of this wonderful old piece, not cracks. The neoclassical transfers are beautiful, making this a wonderful display item, and the solid condition of it make it one you'll enjoy taking to the table in service, too. A cutaway on rim of the lid is for the ladle handle, of course. Photos show it well, though it wants to tilt a little more to blue than to the true mulberry it really is in person. It is not a blue and white tureen, but the more rare wonderful mulberry. There is not a maker mark impressed into the base so we're unable to identify the maker. If you recognize it (you pottery experts) based on the form or the particular transfer patter, please do email and we'll add to our description. Thanks.
Very good condition for age and type. It hasn't any chips. It hasn't any old breaks nor restorations and all I can see by way of slight imperfection to report is a slight hairline that looks more like it's a firing imperfection than damage. No damage to either of the old handles, none to the lid. Even that bottom rim is free of chips. There is a little yellowing to the old white glaze, but very little crazing or anything that diminishes its beauty and value. Measurements are noted on the photos, but it is 13" wide, (plus handles), 11" tall and 9" front to back.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
