A stunning pique or hair comb with jet-beaded ornamental top, this Victorian or Napoleon III era piece is in excellent condition and is boiled horn that still holds its arching form for use in your upturned chignon. In the time of Empress Eugenie, wife of France's last Emperor, Louis-Napoleon, these were quite the height of fashion, and it probably had a matching 2nd comb at that time. They mostly survive as a single, if at all, and they're rare to find. The unique carved jet top is a variation we have only very rarely seen.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. It is a bit over 1" widest, and is 5" long as you see it. No breaks, no flaws to note. Very clean, sanitized for your use and enjoyment. Just one piece. Please don't be confused by our side-by-side photo panels, which are a factor of the limitations we have for images to be posted, and the elongated form of this 1 comb.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
