A spectacular 19th century art glass decanter for table service of wine, water, or just to display, this cranberry glass carafe is 9.5" tall and will serve in elegant style. Great idea for a gift, too. Our photos show it well and show the beautiful cranberry coloration of the mouth blown glass. Hand decorated in thick impasto 18k gold powder enamel, "raised gold", this one is most definitely the work of Art Glass House, Legras, Paris. A feel of the Belle Epoch Art Nouveau, but we think it predates that era by a couple of decades and is Napoleon III in timeframe, c 1870 or so.
Very good to excellent, I've been hanging onto this one but it's time to let it go to a new home. There are no chips or cracks, and no hairlines or loss to speak of, though it may well be the case that it once had a stopper up top. Whether decanter or vase or just art glass for your vitrine, it'll show beautifully. You can see bubbles in the old mouth-blown glass - not flaws but natural to the process.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
