Fine antique French sterling silver 'pelle a fraises', strawberry or fruit serving spoon with scallop shaped bowl and ornate guilloche style machined or engraved pattern including raised medallion & interlaced "PG" monogram! A wonderful not-so-little serving piece, the bowl has a scalloped border with engraved foliage in the center and the piece is in great shape with wonderful visual appeal! It bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). Silversmith marks are for Massat Freres, Paris circa late 1800s. An elegant serving piece, French sterling silver for the price of plate :), don't miss it!
Very good condition. Slight surface scuffs but no damage or repairs. There is a 'crease' or angle where the handle meets the bowl and I can't tell for sure if that's the original way in which the handle was fashioned to join with the bowl or if it's an old bend. Strong and perfect for use either way though. See pictures for measurements.
