We love these little 19th century gem frames, studded with French paste gems all around and with a 24k gold plate finish, as noted on back. Made by AMW, the frame is the type used for portrait miniatures and or early tintype and carte de visite photos, dating as late as x.1870. This one is in fine form with original easel back in perfect form and also the original cover glass, ready for your photo or painted portrait miniature to be added. The gems are all glass or 'paste', French 'faux' diamonds in about a .5 carat each size or slightly smaller. One or two have darkened over the years and we have done nothing to clean them. Charming just as you see it.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, the original gems all intact and easel stand, cover glass all original. A couple of the paste stones have darkened over the century plus, as you can see. We have don't nothing to clean it at all. The frame has a 24K gold plating, as noted, and was made by AMW.
