Rolled gold and facet-cut garnets make up the fabulous clasp on this bold big woven hair bracelet, c. 1840-60, and give it just the right accent. The hair is in fine condition, a strand or two astray which is consistent with these longer and more opulently braided hair art jewelry items, but it's truly in as fine a condition as any we've ever found or seen and is very wearable should you choose to do so. A great display piece, it's pretty as can be! NOTE: Clasp is approximately .75" diameter.
Very good to excellent condition, rolled gold or perhaps pinchbeck (a mimic of fine gold), we don't believe this one has karat gold but it's sure got the look of fine gold. I did not test it since I didn't buy it as a karat gold item, but I suppose it might be possibly a low karat. We're priced for rolled gold or pinchbeck on this one.
