Fabulous antique Black Forest carved cigar caddy or smoker's stand, a unique gilded wood figure with large horn bugle and two sheep!! Another Paris find and what an interesting, wonderfully detailed Black Forest sculpture! Unique in that the figural top portion has a gilt patina! We've had this style in the past, with the wood base having cigar holding receptacles encircling it but this is the first time with a figural grouping. The figure is holding the mountain goat horn in one hand, a small lamb or kid in the other and a second lamb walking to his right side! Magnificent! A pack over his shoulder acts as either a match holder & striker or ash receptacle. A wonderful sculpture, loads of decorative appeal!
Very good condition! Just two age or drying splits in the top of the base portion, where the two pieces meet. No breaks or repairs that I can see! See pictures for measurements.
