Absolutely gorgeous & rare 19th century French Charles X to Napoleon III era rosewood box or casket, elegant brass inlay with ornate engraved cartouche and boasting a complete 12 piece vermeil or 18k gold washed silver spoon set! WOW, a beautiful box AND stunning set of silver flatware! All original, the box's cartouche and handles of each spoon bear the same ornate monogram, 'AT' I believe. Guilloche style engraved decoration throughout and old .800/1000 (nearly sterling) silver marks. The diamond shaped maker mark is that of GRANDVIGNE (Tetard successor) 4, rue Beranger, PARIS. All in superb displayable, perfectly usable condition!
Very good-excellent condition! The only flaw with the entire set is that the outer brass string or strip inlay is a bit raised, due to the slight shrinking of the wood veneers but, of course, the brass did not shrink along with it. No missing inlay, no damage to the interior linings, fittings or spoons! GORGEOUS! See pictures for measurements.
