This shelf is gorgeous! Mid-late 1800s, solid old forest growth oak that is as heavy as the solid bronze figural cast that mounts upon it and around which it has been designed. Absolutely a bespoke piece, if ever there was one. The only oddity that is a bit curious, really, is that smallish upper shelf on it. If I had a space for this one, I'm sure I'd take that smallish shelf off and replace it with a shaped or half-round shelf with a matching aesthetic straight edge, or perhaps with a moulding trim to carry through to the Neo-Renaissance feel of the bronze figure. Heavy, this one has its own hardware in place and is ready to hang. Up to you if you want to make the upper shelf larger to fill the full 11" width. Isn't it just superb, though! Large brass studs accent it further. All measurements are noted on our photos for your review.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, with a nod to that rather odd smallish upper shelf (as above), which seems to me to have been set for some particular statue, perhaps. I'd love to see it with a full 11" wide half-round shelf or perhaps a shaped one that gives more room for a clock or something else to be displayed. A simple task to change that out, really. Just use beautiful oak, please. There is a hairline across that smallish top shelf, visible in our images. Nothing else to report by way of flaws, really. The big bright bronze figure is superb, and very Neo-renaissance in feel.
