I don't even know what category to put this in. I've had it for ages. I love the old French kiln-fired enamel items, and this was just SO unique and fun, I guess I thought perhaps someday I'd have it wired and use it. . . however, I have no servants. Still, if you do, or if you just love the conversation piece aspects of certain stunningly beautiful old things, this one might be for you. I believe that button is pink jade - is there such a thing? That's what it looks like. It's definitely stone and has the quality of jade. The piece is so lovely in the hand. I might have to hire a servant just so I can wire it up and put it to use. In the old estates, each room would have a bell pull or a mechanism like this that would correspond with the room bell in the downstairs servant's quarters, or main kitchen/keeping work room of the home. This one must have been in the Mistress's chamber, that lovely pink and garlands of flowers. Certainly a fine item in its time.

Very good to excellent, no missing kiln-fired enamel work, and no chips nor cracks to speak of. The enamel is worked on a bulbous body of silver. Measurements are noted on the photos. The old wires would be French, original, and I haven't fiddled to see if anything unscrews to open to mechanics, but I'm certainly assuming so.

Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time.
